Hunt groups is a term used to refer to a group of PBX (Private Branch Exchange), extension numbers or IP-PBX resources that are shared by users. In a hosted PBX phone system, the term refers to a set of extension numbers grouped as a single unit. Hunt groups are primarily used to distribute calls effectively in and out of an organization. Additionally, PBX hunt groups are adopted to efficiently manage open phone lines, extensions, and channel incoming calls. Take for instance, when a call is made to the company's business lines, the PBX runs through the hunt group to seek any available extension, open line or channel that can be used to receive the call.
